Corona virus triggered lot of changes in the digital space, facebook’s owned social platform is also trying to keep up with the pace and has adjusted the number of hours which content creators can stream.
Content creators used to do short live sessions on Instagram but the pandemic has forced some businesses and individuals to actually host meetings ad classes on the platform. Users worldwide will now be able to stream up to 4 hours.
The company confirmed that the change is meant to help those who’ve had to pivot to virtual events, like yoga and fitness instructors, teachers, musicians, artists and activists, among others. During the lockdown, shows such as “Gara Mumba Iwe, Cimas Concert” just to mention a few kept people entertained and made use of the viewers to help evaluate the artist. This shows the impact Instagram live streams during this period.
Instagram is now equal with facebook which already had 4 hours limit, However, when streaming from a desktop, facebook users can stream up to 8 hours.
The company is also working on a feature that will allow users to add an option that will allow creators to archive their live streams for up to 30 days. Before, users could archive their Feed posts or their Stories to a private archive, but the only way to save a live stream was to publish it to IGTV immediately after the stream.-tazivaonline.co.zw
